Brian Kendrick

Brian Kendrick was born in Newport News, Virginia into a United States Army family. The family moved often, but settled in Texas when he was 11. Kendrick learned to love and play music in the Music-Rich Central Texas region including Austin and San Antonio. His early experiences include playing in various dance bands performing Big Band, Country, Cajun, Zydeco and various Rock styles. Kendrick has also lived and performed in Los Angeles and New York. Now residing in Stockton, CA, Brian Kendrick holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Percussion Performance from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science degree from Syracuse University. He has performed throughout North America and Europe in both jazz and orchestra settings and has appeared with such eminent artists as Henry Mancini, Sarah Vaughn, Ernie Watts, Jiggs Whigham, Bobby Watson, Ray Drummond, Anton Schwartz, Claudia Villela, Gilbert Castellanos and Eric Marienthal.  Brian Kendrick has recorded with Patrick Langham, Joe Mazzaferro, Mike Rocha, Habanero, Blue Norther, Frank Morgan, Marvin Stamm, Essiett Essiett, Chris Brubeck, Aaron Garner and Jamie Dubberly.


Brian currently maintains an active performance schedule playing jazz, contemporary, orchestra and chamber music with ensembles such as Music Circus/Broadway Sacramento, Bear Valley Music Festival, various regional orchestras and St. John’s Chamber Orchestra. Besides being a versatile performer, Kendrick is a dedicated educator and is the Instructor of Jazz and Percussion at San Joaquin Delta College, teaches drum set at University of the Pacific and has taught at the Cazadero Music Camp, the Brubeck Summer Jazz Camps and Brubeck Jazz Colony.
